Music has traditionally been as much a part of the Christmas season as mistletoe and hung stockings, and right there at the forefront remains crooners of the past whose signature holiday-themed songs still evoke memories of a simpler time.
On December 10th at Showplace in downtown Peterborough, leading Canadian singer Matt Dusk, backed by a big band, will headline A Very Sinatra Christmas, performing Ol’ Blues Eyes’ seasonal hits such as ‘Let It Snow’ and ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.’ Brimming with nostalgia, glamour and holiday spirit, the show is sure to bring a smile to the face of the grumpiest Grinch.
A platinum-selling recording artist and five-time Juno Award nominee, Toronto-born Dusk won the Canadian National Exhibition Rising Star Competition in 1998 and didn’t look back, releasing his 12th album in 2018 before recording Sinatra tribute albums in 2020 and in 2021.
Dusk speaks to why the hit music of Christmases past continues to resonate so loudly after all these years,
Speaking specifically to Sinatra, Dusk says he brought something special to bear that has anchored his legacy.
Performing live, says Dusk, is a treat he relishes and never takes for granted.
Off stage, Dusk has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence on social media, generating more than 60 million views in three months across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, and reaching a new generation of fans in the process.
