Downtown Peterborough is getting into the Halloween spirit later this month with the return of ‘Halloween in the Booro’.
The Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area is inviting families downtown on Saturday, October 24 for an afternoon and evening of free Halloween activities.
From 4 to 6 p.m., more than 50 businesses throughout Downtown Peterborough and East City will welcome trick-or-treaters with treats, decorated storefronts and other Halloween surprises.
Costumed characters will also roam George Street and surrounding blocks, while a Family Fun Zone will feature a Halloween-themed photo opportunity and costume contests for children, adults and pets.
New this year is an outdoor movie at Quaker Square following trick-or-treating. A free screening of Goosebumps, sponsored by Curate & Co., will begin at 6:30 p.m.
“Halloween in the Booro has grown into a real downtown tradition for local families, and we’re excited to keep building on it,” said DBIA Executive Director Nour Mazloum.
World’s Finest Chocolate is also supporting the event by helping provide treats to participating businesses.
Families attending the outdoor movie are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
Halloween in the Booro is free to attend. An event map showing participating businesses, accessible entrances and family-friendly stops will be available through theboro.ca.
