Peterborough’s mayoral candidates will share their views on the city’s pressing social issue challenges this Wednesday night (October 7) at the New Canadians’ Centre.
Together: From Individual Uncertainty to Collective Action will start at 6 p.m., moderated by One City Peterborough board director Jazmine Raine and Dr. Collin Chepeka, the manager of Trent University’s Research for Social Change Lab. Their organizations are two of seven presenting the event.
Dr. Chepeka says the event will provide voters with the opportunity to see and hear the candidates interviewed about a key segment of their campaign as it relates to social issues.
Dr. Chepeka says while the discussion won’t provide solutions to complex social issues, those who take in the event will get to know each candidate’s take on those issues.
Dr. Chepeka says the involvement of so many organizations in the planning presented an opportunity to host an event that has a broader community focus.
Starting at 5 p.m., the event will be preceded by a free barbecue provided by the East Peterborough Lions Club.
For those who can’t make it, the discussion will be livestreamed at www.twitch.tv/newcanadianscentre.
