Three people are facing drug trafficking charges after Peterborough police responded to a suspicious vehicle on Adeline Street.
Police say members of the Community F.I.R.S.T. Unit were called to the dead end of Adeline Street at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.
As officers approached, police say the vehicle attempted to back up and nearly struck a police cruiser. Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver was prohibited from driving.
Police say drug paraphernalia was spotted inside the vehicle, leading to a further search.
Officers seized approximately 22 grams of methamphetamine, 14.5 grams of fentanyl, five knives, more than $650 in Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia including scales, cellphones, pipes and bags.
A 46-year-old Peterborough man and a 40-year-old Peterborough woman were each charged with possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking. The 46-year-old was also charged with failing to comply with a probation order.
A 33-year-old Peterborough man was charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and operation while prohibited.
The vehicle was impounded for 45 days because the driver was prohibited.
