Trent University’s Head of the Trent (HOTT) regatta returns this weekend, with more than 1,400 rowers expected to compete on the Otonabee River from October 2 to 4.
The 55th annual event will feature rowing alongside varsity sports, alumni events and family activities on Trent’s Symons Campus.
The regatta, hosted by the Peterborough Rowing Club, draws competitors from Ontario, Quebec, Western Canada and the northern United States. With the Faryon Bridge undergoing revitalization, spectators will be directed to other viewing areas along the river, including Founders Walk on the West Bank.
Trent’s Excalibur teams will compete throughout the weekend in rugby, soccer and volleyball.
Vice president of External Relations, Marketing & Communications with the University Julie Davis says that this is a highly-anticipated weekend for students and alumni alike.
Trent said it is working with the City of Peterborough, student unions and emergency services on safety measures for the weekend.
Davis commented on the importance of Trent’s ongoing partnership with the Peterborough Police Service, especially during HOTT weekend.
