PTBOToday.ca asked councillor candidates to submit a brief bio, recent photo and short audio-recorded statement to represent their campaign.
Paul Lawton is a Northcrest resident, husband, father of nine, and candidate for Peterborough City Council in Ward 5.
He has a background in management, public advocacy, and grassroots organizing, with many years of experience working with people, leading teams, and turning concerns into practical action.
Paul was involved in local issues before becoming a candidate, including opposition to the Brock Mission development on Chemong Road and the proposed shelter use at the Carnegie fire hall in Northcrest.
His campaign is focused on four main priorities: safe neighbourhoods, responsible spending, public order, and making sure residents are heard.
Paul believes City Hall should concentrate on doing its basic responsibilities well, including maintaining roads, parks, sidewalks and infrastructure, keeping public spaces safe and usable, spending taxpayers’ money carefully, and consulting residents before major decisions are made.
As a Christian, he sees public office as a responsibility before God and a trust from the people he would serve.
