The Peterborough Petes have added some size and experience to their blue line.
General Manager and Vice President of Operations Michael Oke announced Monday that the Petes have acquired 2007-born defenceman Camron Hankai from the Brantford Bulldogs.
Peterborough sends a fourth-round pick in 2028 and a sixth-round selection in 2029 to Brantford in return.
The Simcoe native was originally selected by the Bulldogs in the fourth round, 82nd overall, of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.
Hankai appeared in 36 regular-season games for Brantford in 2025-26, recording two goals and six assists. He added six playoff appearances as the Bulldogs advanced to the Eastern Conference Final.
Before joining Brantford, Hankai put up impressive offensive numbers with the OJHL’s Haliburton County Huskies, recording 11 goals and 40 assists for 51 points in 55 games. His 51 points ranked fourth among OJHL defencemen.
“Camron is a big, physical defenceman who is very tough to play against,” Oke said. “He’s someone who we’ve been tracking since his time with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs in his U16 season.”
Hankai had been named an assistant captain with Brantford this season and is committed to Bowling Green State University following his OHL career.
The Petes return to action Thursday, October 1, when they host the Erie Otters at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. You can listen on FREQ 90.5.
