PTBOToday.ca asked councillor candidates to submit a brief bio, recent photo and short audio-recorded statement to represent their campaign.
Lesley Parnell grew up in Peterborough and she and husband Don have 5 grown children.
Lesley has a Business education and extensive work experience in business, municipal, provincial and federal government capacities and health care.
Lesley has been a very active volunteer throughout her life with activities changing as her children grew.
When their children were little, Lesley was very involved with family activities, environmental efforts, and the Parent Council at Grove Public School where she led many fundraising activities for new playgrounds, trees and more. Lesley was the lead defender for Roger Neilson Public School.
Lesley has also been involved over the years with Kenner Foundation and Fleming College. She secured the funding for the new tennis courts at Kenner and championed the sports fields at Holy Cross and Fleming.
Lesley has served the residents of Otonabee Ward since 2010 and continues to love and be energized by this community service role.
On Council she has had many portfolios and responsibilities. Lesley founded “Trees 4 Peterborough”. This term Lesley is proud to have championed the FREE youth transit program and the centre lane/ traffic light project on Lansdowne West plus the Kennedy snow dump projects are underway. Lesley does NOT give up.
