Peterborough mayoral candidate Jacob Méthot has a ready answer for anyone questioning his youthfulness and his lack of experience in the political arena.
The 21-year-old Trent University student says city residents have seen what experience has done for them, adding it’s high time for a fresh perspective.
One of seven candidates seeking the top political seat in the city, Méthot’s platform priorities include increased transparency at council, more comprehensive public transportation, and meeting the demands of the housing market while prioritizing affordability and access to entry.
Méthot says he’s met many, of all ages, who feel Peterborough needs a change and a young person would bring a fresh set of eyes to age-old challenges.
Méthot says his first election campaign experience has taught him that he’s more extroverted than he thought.
Méthot says the weeks leading up to the election will see him focus on reaching out to younger residents to get them out to vote.
Méthot adds he welcomes any opportunities to debate the other candidates.
