Fagin and his gang of young orphans haven’t returned from 18th century London, but city residents should be aware that there are pickpockets among us.
That’s the word from Peterborough police constable Isaiah Graham, who says while the age-old crime isn’t rampant locally, there are instances of it occurring.
Constable Graham says those who have been pickpocketed should follow certain steps, including reporting the incident to the police service’s non-emergency line.
Constable Graham says identity theft occurring as a result of a stolen wallet is rare, noting most pickpockets are looking to get money or make a purchase quickly.
Constable Graham adds if you see someone take an item from your person or purse and run away, phone 9-1-1 and report the incident.
