Two drivers are facing charges following separate single-vehicle crashes in Peterborough County over the weekend, including one involving an ATV and another on Highway 115.
Peterborough County OPP say the first collision happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, September 12, on Douro First Line in Douro-Dummer Township.
Police were told a side-by-side ATV had left the roadway, struck a fence and ended up in a ditch.
Officers located the ATV but found the driver had left the scene. They later located him at a nearby residence.
Police say the driver had visible injuries and showed signs of alcohol impairment. Paramedics attended to his injuries before he was taken to the OPP detachment for breath testing.
Investigators allege the results showed a blood alcohol concentration more than twice the legal limit.
The accused is charged with impaired operation, having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, failing to remain at the scene, failing to report an accident and several vehicle-related offences.
He is scheduled to appear in Peterborough court on October 20.
The second crash happened around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, September 13, when a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 115 left the roadway and came to rest in the centre median.
Witnesses directed officers to the driver, who police say showed signs of alcohol impairment.
During the investigation, officers determined the driver was unlicensed and subject to multiple driving suspensions, a Criminal Code driving prohibition and a probation order.
Police also allege the driver possessed a licence belonging to someone else.
The driver was taken to the OPP detachment for further testing but allegedly refused to provide a sample.
The accused faces several charges, including operation while prohibited, refusal to comply with a demand, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order and driving while under suspension.
Both drivers received 90-day licence suspensions, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
