It was the final warmup game for the Petes Saturday afternoon as they took on the Niagara Ice Dogs at the Memorial Centre.
For some. it was the best and last look they would get before the start of the regular season.
After scoring the opening goal of the game, the Petes gave up 2 in the 1st and 2nd periods to trail the IceDogs 2-1.
It appeared the Petes were about to come out on the losing end with the net empty and the Petes playing 6 on 5 until Matthew Perrault managed to find the back of the net with 0.2 seconds left
He says that despite the game having no meaning towards wins and losses the fight through three periods was still there
Petes Associate Coach Andrew Verner says that all three goaltenders have seen action through the preseason, and now some decisions need to be made on who will lead the team on the ice each game
There are still 7 Petes away at NHL training camp leading up the start of the regular season on Thursday night. Verner says he imagines a pretty regular lineup will be on the ice for the opening game
