More than 400 local students will receive backpacks filled with school supplies ahead of the upcoming school year thanks to the United Way Peterborough & District’s Backpacks for Success program.
Volunteers gathered Thursday at the Calvary Pentecostal Church to sort and pack supplies for distribution to students across Peterborough and surrounding areas.
United Way CEO Jason Seguya says that thanks to community partners, donors, sponsors and volunteers, the Backpacks for Success program will allow for students to enter the classroom feeling confident and ready to learn.
Seguya says that initiatives like Backpacks for Success provide students with school supplies at a time when many families are dealing with increased household expenses.
