Peterborough residents can now make sure they’re ready to cast a ballot in this fall’s municipal election.
The City has launched voter registration services through PeterboroughVotes.ca, allowing residents to confirm they are on the voters’ list, update their name or address, or add themselves to the list.
Anyone who confirmed or updated their information through RegistertoVoteON.ca before August 12 should now be able to view that information on the City’s election website.
To vote in Peterborough’s municipal election, a person must be a Canadian citizen, be at least 18 years old on election day and either live in Peterborough, own or rent property in the city, or be the spouse of an owner or tenant.
Students living in Peterborough while attending school may be eligible to vote both in Peterborough and in the municipality they consider their permanent home, provided they meet the requirements in each community.
People experiencing homelessness or without a permanent address can also vote if they meet the eligibility requirements.
Voter notification cards are expected to be mailed in late September or early October and will contain information about online and in-person voting. Anyone who has not received a card by October 5 will be able to access their voter notification card online.
Online voting begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 5 and remains open until 8 p.m. on election day, Monday, October 26.
An advance voting day will also be held Wednesday, October 14 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Healthy Planet Arena on Monaghan Road.
Municipal election day is Monday, October 26.
