Two Peterborough men are facing charges following an investigation into the theft of an air conditioning unit and copper wiring from a building.
Peterborough Police say an online report was filed August 14 after the items were discovered stolen from a building in the Hunter Street West and Reid Street area.
Through the investigation, officers identified two suspects.
Police located the first suspect shortly after 12:25 p.m. on August 22. Officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T. Unit were responding to an unrelated call near Lansdowne Street and Monaghan Road when they spotted a man wanted in connection with the investigation.
The man was taken into custody without incident.
The second suspect was arrested later that night after officers were called about several unwanted people near Reid and Simcoe streets at approximately 11:50 p.m.
While dispersing the group, officers recognized a man wanted in connection with the air conditioner and copper wiring investigation and took him into custody.
A 31-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with mischief over $5,000.
A 37-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with mischief over $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order. Police say he was bound by a condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The charges have not been proven in court.
