A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing drug and driving charges after police say he switched seats with a passenger during a traffic stop.
Peterborough Police say officers on general patrol spotted a vehicle without a front licence plate in the Chamberlain Street and Jackson Avenue area at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18.
Officers activated their emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop, but police allege the vehicle did not immediately pull over.
When the vehicle eventually stopped, officers say they could see that the driver and passenger had switched positions.
Police took the original driver into custody and say a search following the arrest resulted in the seizure of 2.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency.
The accused has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and driving while under suspension.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court September 29.
The charges have not been proven in court.
