As great as the summer season has been in terms of local events, attractions and seasonal offerings, the fast-approaching fall season promises yet more, but different, treats for visitors and residents alike.
That’s the word from Brenda Wood, the executive director of Regional Tourism Organization 8 (RTO8), which promotes tourism activity in the Kawarthas Northumberland region. She describes autumn in Peterborough city and county, the City of Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland County as “cottage country’s golden hour.”
Wood says the allure of the fall season locally isn’t restricted to the area’s natural features.
Wood says positive interactions between visitors and residents are key in terms of bringing people back to the region each fall. In that sense, she say’s everyone is an ambassador.
Ahead of the fall season, RTO8 is partnering with Destination Ontario on a campaign that promotes the region’s seasonal offerings at www.fallroutes.ca. In addition, a digital and print campaign with the Globe and Mail is being undertaken.
