Doors Open Peterborough returns September 12th, offering residents the chance to explore 12 unique sites significant for their architectural heritage.
This year, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., participants can peek behind the doors of five new Doors Open stops – the city organics facility, the wastewater treatment plant, Hospice Peterborough, the former Examiner building, and, on September 13th, the straw balesleeping cabin at Camp Kawartha off Pioneer Road in Douro-Dummer Township.
Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (PACAC) chair Stewart Hamilton says Peterborough is very well-positioned to have an event such as this.
Hamilton says Doors Open has special appeal for those new to the city.
Hamilton says Doors Open remains a testament to the value of PACAC and the work it does to ensure built heritage is preserved.
