Freq 90.5 and 96.7 WOW’s annual All Hands on Deck Food Drive in support of Kawartha Food Share (KFS) returns to local grocery stores on August 20.
Each year the community rallies to deliver thousands of pounds of food and hundreds of dollars to Kawartha Food Share.
Interim General Manager Mackenzie Mcilwain says that with back to school around the corner, this is an important fundraising time for KFS.
Kawartha Food Share helps supply food through student nutrition programs at 51 local schools. Mcilwain says this adds up to approximately 240,000 meals served in a month.
Mcilwain notes that food insecurity is prevalent in the community year-round, not just during specific times of year.
Those interested in supporting can visit Jo Anne’s Place Health Foods, Foodland Ennismore, Foodland Peterborough, Greg’s No Frills and Taylor’s No Frills between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, or make a donation online.
