Peterborough pickleball athletes and Team Ontario members Marie Aubie and Cole Lester will compete at the upcoming Canadian National Pickleball Championships in Toronto.
Set for August 27th at Pickleplex Downsview, the national showdown will see Aubie compete in masters division mixed doubles with her playing partner Steve Robinson of Whitby, and Lester compete in open division men’s singles. Both came secondlast year in their respective categories.
Aubie says bringing more exposure to the game is a side benefit of their qualifying for Team Ontario and the chance to win a national title.
Lester says after coming so close to a first-place finish last year, both he and Aubie are focused on standing atop the podium.
As an ambassador of the game along with Lester, Aubie says pickleball checks a lot of boxes for players of all ages and ability.
