Heather Watson announces campaign for re-election as mayor of Douro-Dummer

Mayor of Douro-Dummer Heather Watson has announced her bid for re-election in this year’s mayoral election. 

Watson was first elected as Douro Ward in 2018 and as Mayor for Douro-Dummer Township in 2022. 

The news of her campaign for re-election comes after J. Murray Jones’ announcement that he would be coming out of retirement after four years to run for mayor of Douro-Dummer again. 

“I ran on the campaign theme Building on Tradition; that is, proudly moving forward while honouring the traditions of our shared rural values. I believe that approach has served us extremely well, and I will continue to advance it going forward,” said Watson. 

The election takes place on October 26.
