A 24-year-old Richmond Hill woman is facing impaired driving and careless driving charges following a single-vehicle collision in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township.
Peterborough County OPP responded to a collision on Highway 7 near David Fife Line at approximately 8 p.m. Thursday, August 6.
Officers arrived to find a damaged vehicle and its driver. While speaking with the driver, police say they believed she had been consuming alcohol.
An Approved Screening Device test was conducted, and the results led to the driver being arrested and taken to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.
Ella Graham, 24, of Richmond Hill, was charged with operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration of 80-plus and careless driving.
Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Graham is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 22.
Police are reminding motorists to plan ahead if they intend to consume alcohol or drugs, including arranging a designated driver, taxi, public transit or overnight accommodations.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
