Peterborough Police have recovered one of two e-bikes stolen from a local campground and are continuing to search for the remaining bike and those responsible.
Police say a report was submitted through the online reporting system Thursday about the overnight theft of two e-bikes valued at approximately $2,500 each.
At about 11:30 a.m., officers who were aware of the theft spotted two people riding the stolen bikes.
According to police, one suspect abandoned the bike and fled on foot when approached by officers, while the second suspect rode away on the remaining stolen e-bike.
The recovered bike has since been returned to its owner, who was visiting Peterborough from out of town.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify the suspects and recover the second e-bike.
