The World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo has seen Team Canada, with three Trent Excalibur members in the mix, get off to an excellent start.
Trent student-athletes Maddy Baxter and Maggie Cuddy are representing Canada, alongside Excalibur head coach Jocelyne Lemay, who is serving as the national team’s manager.
In the pool portion of the championship, Canada opened with a dominating 23-0 win over Germany and followed up with a much tighter 13-11 win over Australia. Canada’s final pool game will see it take on Wales.
Through the first two game, Baxter, a Whitby native, has had an impact, scoring three goals while adding five assists.
