The deadline for nominations for Rotary’s highest honour is fast approaching
Named after Rotary International’s founder, the Paul Harris Fellow distinction recognizes those who best exemplify the Rotary motto of Service Above Self through their leadership and service to the community or the world at large.
Nominees may be a Rotarian or a non-Rotarian, with each Paul Harris Fellow having $1,000 donated to the Rotary International Foundation in their name. The first non-Rotarian to receive a Paul Harris Fellow was Mother Teresa.
Rotary Club of Peterborough president Tony Grady says nominees can fit into one of five avenues of service.
Grady says the distinction speaks to the contributions of those who fly under the radar.
Grady say welcoming Paul Harris Fellow recipients to a club meeting for the presentation is an annual highlight of the Rotary calendar.
Nominations are open until September 1st with the recognition event set for November 26th, 6 p.m., at the Peterborough Golf and Country Club. The nomination form can be found online at https://peterboroughrotary.ca/page/paul-harris-fellow-recognition.
