Bordering the Ouse River east of Peterborough, Carrot Top Organics is Josh Blank’s slice of heaven on earth, its rich soil having provided diverse and healthy local food since 2022.
As a summer student in his 20s selling plants and seedlings at Toronto’s Kensington Market, Blank started Carrot Top Organics, noting his shock of red hair provided an obvious name for the business. Two years after purchasing the property in Asphodel-Norwood Township, he revived that business name.
Of note, Carrot Top Organics’ products are certified organic through Ecocert, which gives his customers full confidence in not only the products grown but also the knowledge that sustainable practices are a priority.
Carrot Top Organics’ products are available for purchase online at www. https://www.carrottopcommons.ca/home as well as through a community agriculture-supported program that allows Blank to plan how much to grow based on his products being sold directly to customers.
