A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges following an alleged domestic assault Wednesday evening.
Peterborough Police say officers were dispatched to the area of Lansdowne Street and Applewood Crescent at about 8 p.m. on July 15 after a 911 call in which a woman could be heard screaming before the line disconnected.
When officers arrived, they located a woman with injuries. Police allege the victim had been assaulted and that her cellphone had been damaged during the incident.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
Following an investigation, the 24-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon involving an intimate partner, assault involving an intimate partner, assault causing bodily harm and mischief.
Police allege the accused also threatened officers during the arrest and was additionally charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
