The Beavermead Beach Party and Parks Canada’s annual Lock & Paddle event have both been cancelled because of forecasted weather conditions.
The City of Peterborough announced Friday that the free family-friendly Beach Party, scheduled for Saturday at Beavermead Park, has been called off due to weather and safety concerns.
The event was planned as a companion to Parks Canada’s Lock & Paddle event at the Peterborough Lift Lock, which has also been cancelled out of an abundance of caution.
Neither event will be rescheduled this year.
The City thanked the businesses, organizations and volunteers that supported the Beach Party, along with Parks Canada for its collaboration in planning the event.
Officials say they look forward to welcoming residents and visitors back for future editions of the annual Lock & Paddle celebration.
