Peterborough Regional Health Centre has been recognized as one of the best hospital employers in Canada for company culture.
The hospital ranked eighth among hospital employers nationwide and 63rd overall among 200 Canadian employers across all sectors on the Forbes list of Canada’s Best Employers for Company Culture, released Wednesday.
PRHC president and CEO Dr. Lynn Mikula says the recognition reflects the hospital’s commitment to creating a workplace where employees can succeed.
“It’s an absolute privilege to be part of an organization that fully commits itself to providing a workplace where people can thrive the way PRHC has done,” Mikula said in a release.
“Our people are vital to the work we do every day, and every day we strive to provide meaningful opportunities, care and support for this amazing team so they can be there for you when you need them most.”
PRHC is the largest employer in the Peterborough region, with more than 3,100 staff members, 450 physicians with privileges and about 250 volunteers.
The hospital provides acute health care services to a regional population of approximately 600,000 people across a wide area extending from Haliburton to Northumberland and from Quinte to Durham.
The Forbes ranking was created in partnership with market research firm Statista, which surveyed more than 37,000 employees across Canada. Respondents were asked whether they would recommend their employer and to evaluate workplace culture based on factors including fairness, inclusivity and opportunities for advancement.
PRHC says its 2024-2029 Strategic Plan includes a focus on building a workplace where employees can continue to grow and thrive.
