A 29-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple charges after a cyclist was allegedly knocked off a bicycle and seriously injured in Douro-Dummer Township.
Peterborough County OPP say officers responded to County Road 32 near County Road 33 on April 17 after EMS reported a cyclist had been run off the road. Police say the cyclist suffered significant injuries, including road rash, lacerations and facial injuries, and was later taken to a Toronto trauma centre.
Investigators say the cyclist reported encountering a group of people operating electric motorcycles in a dangerous manner. Police allege one rider kicked at the cyclist, causing them to fall.
On July 9, Michael Currie of Peterborough turned himself in at the OPP detachment and was arrested.
He faces charges including assault causing bodily harm, dangerous operation, operating while prohibited under the Criminal Code, driving while suspended, operating without insurance, and several Highway Traffic Act offences.
Currie is scheduled to appear in Peterborough court on Aug. 18.
