Here is a quick snapshot of what’s happening around town the next 48 hours.
STUFF TO DO
Friday: Join true crime enthusiast and tour guide Maddie More for Peterborough Perpetrators, a walking tour exploring the crimes that captivated the Peterborough community in the 19th and 20th centuries. Stroll through downtown Peterborough to hear both new discoveries and returning favourites, including the fatal shooting of hotel owner Murray Green in the 1970s, a deadly dispute between circus workers in the 1880s and career criminal John Parks’ daring escape from the Peterborough jail in the 1920s. The tour covers several blocks on mainly flat sidewalks in downtown Peterborough and begins at the cenotaph in Confederation Park at 7 p.m. Participants are reminded to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather, as the tour runs rain or shine.
Saturday: The Second Saturday Sidewalk Sale is returning this month with artisan vendors, patios, live music, pop-ups and plenty to explore in the heart of downtown Peterborough. Support local businesses, discover exclusive deals and enjoy the energy of downtown from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. George Street will be closed from Hunter to Simcoe during the event for expanded pedestrian space.
Saturday: The Lakefield Jazz, Art and Craft Festival returns to Isabel Morris Park from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Explore vendors, live music and more this Saturday at their 27th annual festival.
