A community event celebrating inclusion, sport and local children is returning to the Peterborough Memorial Centre later this month.
The fourth annual Little Lakers Night will take place Thursday, July 16, during the Peterborough Century 21 Lakers’ home game against the Oakville Rock. The event is a partnership between the Lakers and Five Counties Children’s Centre, raising funds to support children and families across the region.
The evening will begin with pre-game activities at 7 p.m., including face painting, outdoor games, a “Pass the Bucket” fundraiser and the “Ball Toss for a Cause” supporting Five Counties.
Fans will also have the chance to bid on prizes through a silent auction featuring items such as Toronto Blue Jays tickets, local gift cards, sports memorabilia and a couples float package.
New this year, six Lakers player jerseys will be auctioned off, with proceeds supporting Five Counties’ Building Abilities for Life campaign.
“Little Lakers Night is one of those special events that brings our community together around a shared purpose — supporting children and families while celebrating the spirit of sport,” said Scott Pepin, CEO of Five Counties Children’s Centre.
The event will also highlight families who have benefited from Five Counties services, including the Hyde family, whose three children have received support through the organization. They will participate in the ceremonial pre-game ball drop.
Through the Ticket Assist Program, dozens of Five Counties families will receive complimentary tickets to attend the game.
Last year’s Little Lakers Night raised $16,128 for children’s treatment services. This year’s event will continue supporting Five Counties’ efforts to provide life-changing programs for children and youth throughout the region.
