With the countdown to the 37th annual Peterborough Folk Festival well underway, organizers have revealed the second wave of featured acts confirmed for the August 13 to 16 event.
Juno Award-winning hip-hop artists Shad and Arabic psychedelic funk duo Kazdoura have been added to lineup, along with popular local acts Melissa Payne and The Weber Brothers. Also newly confirmed are Tennyson King, Georgia Hammer, Lauren Dillen, Friendly Frogs Freakshow, Burs, Cale Crowe, Ollie Mae and The Kents.
Festival chair Rob Davis notes Shad will close the Saturday night of the festival – a primetime slot – while Kazdoura brings a unique sound and presence.
Davis says with four stages total, with two active at any given time, the festival provides ample opportunity for attendees to explore.
As for ensuring music genres other than traditional folk are part of the festival’s offering, Davis says there’s good reason behind that.
A third and final wave of festival artists will be announced later this month. For more information about the festival in general, visit www.peterboroughfolkfest.com.
