The longtime Peterborough-based business manager of Tommy Hunter is remembering the country singer’s warm presence, polished musicianship and decades-long commitment to providing wholesome family entertainment.
Hunter, who passed away Thursday (July 2) at age 89, began his career in 1956 when he joined CBC’s Country Hoedown as a cast member. In 1965, The Tommy Hunter Show debuted and aired weekly for next 27 years, after which Hunter toured until giving his final performance in 2012 at age 75.
Brian Edwards of Rocklands Entertainment, a friend as well as a business associate of Hunter’s, says the singer’s legacy is secure.
Edwards touches on the unique opportunity he had to spend time with Hunter away from the stage and cameras.
Asked what Hunter will be best remembered for, Edwards answers quickly.
Hunter’s funeral arrangements and details regarding a public memorial will be announced later.
