The Ontario government is introducing a new digital licensing system designed to make it easier for anglers and hunters to buy and manage licences and tags across the province.
The new FishHuntON platform is expected to launch in early 2027 and will serve approximately 1.5 million Ontario anglers and hunters each year. The system will include a free mobile app that allows users to purchase and renew fishing and hunting products, store licences and tags digitally, and access them even without cellular service.
Hunters will also be able to submit accreditation documents and mandatory reports online, making the licensing process more convenient.
The province said FishHuntON will work alongside existing online, in-person and ServiceOntario licensing services, giving residents multiple ways to access Outdoors Cards, licences, tags and big game draw applications.
Ontario’s fishing and hunting activities contribute an estimated $3.37 billion annually to the province’s resource-based economy. Revenue from licence sales helps fund fish and wildlife conservation, scientific research, stocking programs, enforcement and public education.
The new system will also include a digital compliance tool for conservation officers to help protect Ontario’s fish and wildlife. Officials encourage anglers and hunters to watch for updates (Hotlink) before the new platform launches in 2027.
