The Canada Day holiday this Wednesday will affect some city services and facility operations.
The city-county landfill and the Household Hazardous Waste Depot will be closed Canada Day.
Peterborough Transit will operate on a Sunday/holiday service schedule on Canada Day, with temporary detours in place on some routes to accommodate the Canada Day Parade. Transit service will return to its regular schedule on July 2nd. Visit www.peterborough.ca/transit for detailed schedules.
Peterborough City Hall will be closed Canada Day along with the Peterborough Public Library but the Art Gallery of Peterborough will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Also open on Canada Day, from noon to 5 p.m., is the Peterborough Museum and Archives, the Riverview Park and Zoo from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The social services office on Charlotte Street will be closed on Canada Day and all city-operated child care centres will also be closed on the holiday.
Lifeguards will be on duty at Beavermead beach on Canada Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., but there is no lifeguard supervision at Rogers Cove. Splash pads in city parks will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with lifeguard supervision of city wading pools from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Please note that our News Department is off on Canada Day. Coverage will, however, be provided in the event of breaking news that impacts the community. We will be return to regular coverage and programming on July 2nd.
