A Peterborough man says he plans to keep working and spend more time with his family after winning a $12-million Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball prize.
Bradley V., a 47-year-old financial planner and father of three, claimed the jackpot from the June 6 draw at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
Bradley said he discovered the life-changing win while checking his emails on a Sunday morning and noticed a message from OLG.
“I logged into my OLG.ca account to investigate further and thought there had to be a mistake,” he said in a statement. “I put on my reading glasses and checked the information again. Eventually, I realized it was legitimate and the win was real. I was in disbelief and couldn’t focus for the rest of the day.”
He shared the news with his children by showing them screenshots of the winning ticket.
“Their mouths dropped open in shock,” Bradley said. “They were completely speechless.”
He said his mother was equally stunned by the news.
“She was overwhelmed and said, ‘I have to pinch myself — I must still be dreaming!’”
Despite the windfall, Bradley says he intends to continue working, though he hopes the prize will allow him to retire earlier than originally planned.
“I hope to retire a little earlier so I can spend more time enjoying life with my family,” he said.
The winner also plans to support his family financially and is considering purchasing a new vehicle, with an Audi or BMW topping his list.
