Residents, businesses, community groups and local organizations are encouraged to help shape the future of economic development in the City of Peterborough.
The City is creating an Economic Development Strategic Plan that will guide economic growth and investment priorities over the next five years.
The Economic Development Strategic Plan follows the transition of economic development services to the City at the beginning of 2025. Feedback gathered through the engagement process will help inform the plan, which will guide the City’s economic development efforts from 2027-2032.
The City of Peterborough’s Economic Developer Darryl Julott comments further on the consultation component of the economic development process.
The plan will establish a vision, goals and actions to support local businesses, attract investment, encourage entrepreneurship, strengthen the workforce, support key sectors and create opportunities for long-term economic success.
Community input will help to ensure the plan reflects local priorities and opportunities. A community survey is open online at connectptbo.ca/EcDevStratPlan until July 27 at 11:59 p.m. Paper copies of the survey are available at Service Peterborough (500 George St. N.)
Julott commented on the vital role that community input plays in this process.
A Community Open House will be held on July 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Miskin Law Community Complex (271 Lansdowne St. W) in Multi-Purpose Room A-B (located on the second floor). Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
