A 20-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges following a police investigation into a hit-and-run collision that occurred in a city neighbourhood last month.
Peterborough Police say the incident happened on Marsdale Drive on May 9. Members of the Traffic Unit launched an investigation and, on June 4, executed a search warrant at a residence where officers seized a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident.
Following further investigation, police arrested a 20-year-old Peterborough man on June 12.
The accused is charged with obstructing a peace officer, permitting the operation of a motor vehicle without insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, failing to apply for a vehicle permit upon becoming the owner under the Highway Traffic Act, and failing to report an accident.
Police said the accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on Sept. 1.
No additional details about the collision or any injuries were released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
