The Mount Community Centre has appointed longtime non-profit leader Rhonda Gilchrist as its new Executive Director.
The appointment takes effect June 15 following an extensive recruitment process that attracted nearly 100 applicants from across the sector.
TMCC Board Chair Stephen Kylie said Gilchrist brings a combination of leadership experience, fundraising expertise and community connections that will help advance the organization’s mission of reducing poverty and strengthening community supports.
Gilchrist most recently served as Senior Director of Operations and Revenue Generation at United Way Peterborough and District, where she oversaw financial operations and fundraising initiatives. She has more than 13 years of experience in the non-profit sector, including eight years in senior management positions.
She has also been involved with Peterborough Action for Tiny Homes, supporting efforts to address housing challenges in the community.
Kylie said Gilchrist joins the organization at a pivotal time, as TMCC pursues ambitious growth plans, including projects tied to the recently acquired Village on Argyle property and a proposed development on Monaghan Road.
Gilchrist said she is honoured to have been selected for the role and looks forward to helping expand services for low-income residents.
“The opportunity at TMCC is a very rare opportunity and their mission to reduce poverty and develop community aligns with my hopes for our community,” she said.
The Board unanimously approved the recommendation to hire Gilchrist following a multi-stage interview process conducted with the assistance of executive search firm Crawford Connect.
