When you’ve been around for 175 years, you must be doing something right.
That has certainly been the case for the annual Millbrook Fair which returns June 11th with a full schedule of agricultural displays and related events as well as the popular demolition derby and live entertainment. If that’s not enough, Canada’s Snowbirds aerobatics team will do a flyby June 11th at 6:30 p.m.
Hosted and organized by the Millbrook Agricultural Society, the fair will continue until June 12th before wrapping up June 14th. Visit www.millbrookfair.ca for the complete event schedule and admission details.
Past fair ambassador and junior fair director Shyana Post says the first spring fair was held in 1942 but it debuted as a fall fair in 1849. While the fair was exclusively an agricultural showcase for many years, it has since evolved to include a midway and all kinds of entertainment – something that’s reflected in fair’s official logo which debuted in 1980.
Post says the process to secure the Snowbirds flyby began a year ago before it was announced the team will be temporarily grounded for a retrofit.
Asked what remains the fair’s most popular attraction, Post says two events stand out year after year.
