A 14-year-old Peterborough boy is facing multiple charges after an incident involving weapons and threats on a City of Peterborough transit bus Thursday afternoon.
Officers with the Peterborough Police Service were called to the area of Parkhill Road and Armour Road at approximately 3:15 p.m. on June 4 following reports of a passenger carrying a knife.
Police say the bus driver stopped the vehicle and the suspect exited before officers arrived. Investigators allege the individual dropped an item in the grass and began walking along Armour Road.
Officers located a male matching the description provided and took him into custody without incident.
According to police, a search conducted following the arrest resulted in the seizure of a sword and a canister of bear mace.
Further investigation determined the suspect had allegedly been wearing a face mask while on the bus and had punched another teenage passenger and made verbal threats toward them.
As a result, the 14-year-old was charged with assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and disguise with intent.
Under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be released.
Police say the accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on July 13.
The charges have not been proven in court.
