An American sandwich chain known for its “A Sub Above” branding is preparing to open a new location in Peterborough as part of a broader Canadian expansion across multiple provinces.
Jersey Mike’s, a U.S.-based restaurant chain founded in New Jersey in 1956, has confirmed Peterborough as one of several new Canadian markets it is entering, alongside Barrie, Toronto, Sudbury, Burlington, Steinbach, Yorkton and Kelowna.
The company currently operates more than 3,000 locations across North America, including 26 in Canada, and has set an ambitious goal of reaching 300 Canadian stores by 2035.
The Peterborough location will be at 947 Lansdowne Street West, though an official opening date has not yet been announced.
In Canada, the brand’s expansion is being led by franchise operator Redberry Restaurants, which currently operates a location in Barrie.
Jersey Mike’s locations typically operate daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Peterborough opening adds to a growing list of mid-sized Ontario markets attracting new national and international food chains as expansion continues across the province.
