Two declared Peterborough candidates for municipal election this fall have pivoted, with one withdrawing her candidacy to support another candidate and the other putting his election campaign on hold due to a family matter.
Northcrest candidate Philip Jolicoeur announced on Facebook that he is pausing his campaign to spend more time with his sister who has been admitted to Hospice Peterborough following a long battle with cancer. “Campaigning has honestly been the furthest thing from my mind,” wrote Jolicoeur.
Meanwhile, also on Facebook, Otonabee candidate Noella Koshul said she is ending her election bid to give her full support to Otonabee candidate Jessica Correa. Koshul noted she’s “proud to stand alongside her (Correa) as we move forward together toward a Peterborough that truly works for everyone.”
