Two separate collisions involving pedestrians in Peterborough on Wednesday are under investigation by the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit.
Police say the first incident happened shortly before 3:45 p.m. in the area of Charlotte Street and Reid Street when a vehicle left the roadway and struck a pedestrian.
A 43-year-old pedestrian was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with several injuries. Police say the 78-year-old driver was not injured.
The area was closed for several hours while officers conducted a collision reconstruction. Investigators say the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Later Wednesday evening, an 88-year-old Peterborough man was airlifted to a Toronto hospital after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot near Lansdowne Street and Dobbin Road.
Police say the collision happened at about 5:50 p.m. Officers remained in the area while the Traffic Unit completed a reconstruction of the scene.
No additional information about the driver or the extent of the victim’s injuries has been released.
Investigators are asking anyone with information or video footage related to either collision to contact the Traffic Unit or Crime Stoppers.
