A 23-year-old man from Peterborough is facing several criminal charges after allegedly fleeing from police during a traffic investigation in Simcoe County.
OPP say officers with the Huronia West detachment attempted to stop a white pickup truck on Highway 26 shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday.
Police allege the driver failed to stop, prompting officers to deploy a spike belt. The vehicle was later located in a parking lot on Bayfield Street in Barrie.
With assistance from the Barrie Police Service, officers arrested the driver.
Police say Tyson Cross has been charged with dangerous operation, flight from a peace officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
The OPP is reminding motorists to drive safely and report dangerous driving behaviour to police.
