A 29-year-old man from Selwyn Township is facing stunt driving and speeding charges after a traffic stop in Peterborough Thursday night.
The Peterborough Police Service says an officer with the Traffic Services Unit was on general patrol near Kawartha Heights Boulevard and Brealey Drive at about 9:20 p.m. on May 14 when a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed.
Police say radar confirmed the vehicle was travelling 97 kilometres per hour in a posted 40 km/h zone.
As a result of the stop, the driver was charged with stunt driving, speeding and failing to surrender a driver’s licence.
Police say the accused received an automatic 30-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
