There are now 22 declared candidates vying for one of 11 Peterborough city council seats up for grabs in this fall’s municipal election.
As of Friday (May 15), five mayor hopefuls – Keith Riel, Dr. Michael Eamon, Neil Morton, Rebecca Schillemat and Jacob Méthot – are in the running.
Meanwhile, Otonabee Ward has seen candidates Lesley Parnell and Chris Potter joined by Noella Koshul; Monaghan Ward candidates are Matt Crowley, Jen Lacey and AJ Shearer with Ashley Flynn now in the mix; Town Ward sees Alex Bierk, Joy Lachica and Jessica Kuhlmorgen-Hille running; Ashburnham Ward candidates Gary Baldwin and Ashley Bonner have been joined by Jason Stabler; and, in Northcrest Ward, earlier filed candidates Gavin Muir and Phil Jolicoeur are vying for votes alongside newly declared candidates Charmaine Magumbe and Andrew Beamer.
Meanwhile, current council members who haven’t made their intentions known are Mayor Jeff Leal, and ward councillors Kevin Duguay, Don Vassiliadis and Dave Haacke.
The municipal election will be held October 26th. Those looking to stand for election have until August 21st to file nomination papers.
