The Peterborough Police Service Board has extended Chief Stuart Betts’ employment contract through Dec. 31, 2032, reaffirming its support for his leadership and long-term vision for the service.
In a release, the board said the extension reflects confidence in Betts’ commitment to both police members and the communities they serve, while also supporting continued progress on priorities outlined in the organization’s strategic plan.
Board Chair Mary ten Doeschate said the board recognizes the professionalism and dedication shown daily by members of the service and the importance of strong leadership in maintaining operational excellence and positive community relationships.
Betts said he appreciates the board’s continued support and described the extension as a public declaration of confidence in the work being done by the service.
He added that the board, administration and police associations remain aligned in their goal of improving public safety throughout the community.
The board said it looks forward to building on the momentum and successes achieved under Betts’ leadership, including initiatives focused on community safety and member wellness.
