A 20-year-old Peterborough woman is facing several charges under the Highway Traffic Act following a hit-and-run investigation stemming from a late-night collision in April.
The Peterborough Police Service Traffic Services Unit says it was notified on April 27, about an incident previously reported to the Collision Reporting Centre.
Police say that at approximately 11:30 p.m. on April 23, a vehicle entered a private driveway and struck a parked vehicle near Fair Avenue and Ravenwood Drive before leaving the scene.
Investigators conducted a video canvass in the area and collected evidence left behind at the crash site.
During the investigation, officers learned of a separate report involving a damaged vehicle that had also been filed with the Collision Reporting Centre. Police say that vehicle was later located and matched evidence recovered from the original collision scene.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with failing to report an accident, failing to remain at the scene and careless driving.
